Job Description:

Addison Group is looking for a Web Solutions Technical Lead that will provide critical support to the TechOps team in the sustainment, stability, and evolution of our clients public facing web presence and related digital platforms. This role will be the primary representative for the TechOps team in the procurement of a CMS development team, for the discreet piece of work of standing up a new CMS for the organization. This role must ensure high availability, secure operations, and forward looking technical oversight across current and future web and CMS environments. The role requires close collaboration with the Digital Experience team, including cross team alignment on UX, accessibility, technical workflows, and platform governance. The Web Technical Lead will work jointly with Digital Experience to ensure that the CMS rebuild, portal initiatives, and ongoing web operations support both technical and experience centric objectives.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Web and CMS Development Oversight

  • Provide hands-on technical guidance across website and CMS architectures, including templating, component structure, API usage, integrations, and deployment patterns.
  • Conduct code reviews for vendor delivered work and perform light development tasks when needed (e.g., bug fixes, configuration adjustments, minor feature changes).
  • Support content modeling, editorial workflows, personalization logic, and UX implementation in collaboration with the Digital Experience team.

Portal Development & Launch

  • Serve as the U.S. technical lead for global portal initiatives, ensuring platform changes support U.S. business processes and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with development teams (internal and vendor) on identity flows, OAuth/SSO integrations, API interactions, and data exchange patterns.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and acceptance testing to validate technical accuracy.

Web Platform Sustainment & Operations

  • Oversee the stability, security, and performance of our clients public-facing websites and CMS platforms.
  • Review, validate, and occasionally contribute to front-end or back-end code changes (pull-requests) to ensure quality, security, and alignment with technical standards.
  • Coordinate testing, staging, and deployment workflows, ensuring safe rollout practices and high availability.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Support Digital Experience in diagnosing CMS/editor usability issues, performing technical root cause analysis for content side problems, and enabling better authoring experiences.
  • Provide technical insight during Digital Experience’s editorial calendar, campaign planning, and sitewide UX or navigation updates.

Technical Ownership & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain architectural standards for hosting environments, deployment pipelines, CDN usage, caching, and security hardening.
  • Guide vendor teams maintaining AWS infrastructure, ensuring alignment with security and performance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and technical reference materials for both internal teams and external partners.

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Web platforms remain stable, secure, and high performing, with smooth collaboration between TechOps, Digital Experience and external partners.
  • The Web Technical Lead proactively guides vendors, ensures quality in all web changes, and supports reliable, user‑centered improvements across CMS and portal platforms.

Ad Hoc

  • Additional duties may include limited support for related web infrastructure, deployment workflows, or documentation needs based on organizational priorities.

  • Proficiency in core web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript) and experience working with modern web development languages and CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Kentico, or comparable systems).
  • Ability to review, troubleshoot, and debug code in a multi-developer or vendor-supported environment, including evaluating plugin/theme changes and integration behavior.
  • Familiarity with API integrations, identity/SSO workflows (e.g., OAuth(SAML/OIDC) flows used across systems), and platform-to-platform data exchange patterns.
  • Understanding of cloud-hosted web environments (AWS preferred), including hosting architectures, caching/CDN usage, performance tuning, and web security fundamentals.
  • Experience with modern CI/CD workflows, including Git-based version control, staging/testing practices, and structured deployment pipelines.
  • Familiarity with managing code in GitHub repositories, including reviewing pull requests, maintaining branch hygiene, and coordinating with vendor development workflows.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across code, configuration, integrations, and hosting layers.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners (UX, content, design, and operations teams) and translate experience goals into implementable technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field; equivalent professional experience accepted.
  • Experience with modern web development languages (PHP, JavaScript/Node, Python, Ruby, etc.), CMS platforms like WordPress/Drupal/Adobe EM or equivalents, front‑end fundamentals, and cloud infrastructure troubleshooting.”
  • Experience reviewing vendor-delivered code and performing light development tasks (e.g., bug fixes, theme/plugin adjustments, integration troubleshooting).
  • Experience working in AWS-hosted or similar cloud environments, with practical knowledge of uptime, performance, caching, and security considerations.
