Traveling Site Superintendent

POSITION TYPE: Full-time


LOCATION: Various Job Sites located in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia


TRAVEL: Travel is required for this position


BASE SALARY: Starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education and experience

EXPERIENCE:

Proven experience as a Site Superintendent on projects valued over $1.6 million dollars. The ideal candidate will have at least five years’ experience with commercial construction, with a focus on estimating, supervision of job sites and contractors, experience reading plans, and excellent problem-solving skills.


EDUCATION: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience will be considered.


JOB BRIEF: A Site Superintendent for Rhetson Companies is responsible the supervision for all construction aspects of a project from pre-construction plan review to construction completion-this includes, but is not limited to:

  • Review and comprehension of plans
  • Setting and adhering to an aggressive construction schedule
  • Daily communication with Project Managers about the project
  • Management of all subcontractors to ensure scope, quality, and schedule are all being achieved
  • Communication with various clients of Rhetson Companies
  • Sending daily reports and weekly progress updates and photographs to the Project Management Team
  • Completion of stormwater inspection reports
  • Familiarity and adherence to OSHA standards
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety inspections
  • Updating company spreadsheets


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds to support site layout and material movement as needed
  • Operate heavy machinery, training certification preferred but not required
  • Use power and non-powered hand tools proficiently
  • Ability to traverse uneven terrain and to stand or walk on job sites for extended periods
  • Climb ladders safely and efficiently
  • Travel to various job sites as required
  • Maintain familiarity with quality and construction safety standards
  • Understand civil and building permitting processes
  • Demonstrate strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Maintain excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Represent the Company professionally in meetings with inspectors and stakeholders
  • Build strong working relationships using tact, diplomacy, and emotional intelligence
  • Collaborate with and manage multiple subcontractors effectively
  • Prior construction experience on projects valued over $1,600,000 USD preferred
