About the Opportunity:

A leading U.S.-based aerospace, defense, and cyber-technology innovator is seeking a Senior RUST Software Engineer with an Active Secret or Top-Secret clearance to support the next generation of mission-critical, embedded, and cyber-resilient systems.

This is a high-impact, hands-on engineering role for an expert-level RUST developer who can lead adoption, guide technical strategy, and modernize embedded architectures. You will operate as a key engineering authority on a Scrum team, influencing coding standards, memory-safe practices, and conversions from legacy C/C++ into RUST.

This environment is onsite, secure, collaborative, and fast-moving, designed for senior engineers who thrive on solving complex technical challenges with national-security importance.

Role Highlights:

  • Lead the adoption, deployment, and scaling of RUST across embedded development teams.

  • Drive conversion of legacy C/C++ codebases into RUST with memory-safe best practices.

  • Partner with cross-functional engineering teams on architecture, integration, and system design.

  • Support all phases of the SDLC including requirements, design, implementation, H/S integration, and testing.

  • Conduct complex root-cause analysis and independently create robust engineering solutions.

  • Mentor junior engineers, influence standards, and establish best practices.

  • Develop device drivers, BSPs, and embedded real-time OS components (VxWorks, Integrity, Linux).

  • Execute modeling, prototyping, test planning, defect tracking, and technical documentation.

  • Work onsite in a secure environment with occasional travel to other U.S. engineering locations.

Required Qualifications:

To be considered, candidates must meet all requirements below:

️ Clearance Requirements (High Priority)

  • Active Secret clearance (minimum required)

  • Top Secret preferred (referenced repeatedly for ranking visibility)

  • Must be U.S. Citizen and eligible for program-specific access.

Technical Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience (or 16+ years without a degree) in software engineering, embedded systems, or computer engineering.

  • 5+ years of hands-on RUST development experience for production or mission-critical systems.

  • Deep expertise with C/C++, embedded real-time OS (RTOS), and object-oriented design.

  • Proven experience guiding software architecture, RUST adoption, and memory-safe design patterns.

  • Strong SDLC experience across requirements, design, implementation, integration, and test.

  • Ability to support a 100% onsite role in a secure facility.

Preferred Skills:

  • Embedded RUST development for real-time or safety-critical systems

  • Migration and architecture of C/C++ systems into RUST

  • UML modeling tools (Magic Draw, Cameo, Rhapsody)

  • Experience with cryptography, cyber, IA controls, or secure communications

  • Experience with Type 1, DO-178, or similar SW certification frameworks

  • Experience developing device drivers or Board Support Packages

  • Strong communication skills and ability to drive technical consensus

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive Base Salary

  • Full benefits package

  • 9/80 schedule with alternate Fridays off

  • Relocation assistance

  • Interview travel reimbursement

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The strongest applicants will be:

  • Senior-level engineers with expert RUST skills

  • Experienced in embedded, safety-critical, or cyber-protected systems

  • Currently holding Top-Secret clearance

  • Comfortable leading architecture and modernization initiatives

  • Passionate about secure, memory-safe programming and RUST best practices

  • Ready to operate at the intersection of embedded engineering, cyber, and mission-critical hardware

How to Apply:

If you meet the clearance and technical requirements, we invite you to apply immediately. This is a rare, high-impact opportunity supporting nationally significant programs. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 24 hours.
