Commercial Litigation Attorney

Location: New York, NY, US

Position Type: Full-Time

Practice Area: Commercial Litigation / Business Disputes

Pay rate: Competitive Pay


Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts
  • Handle disputes involving breach of contract, business torts, partnership/shareholder disputes, and fiduciary claims
  • Manage cases from initial pleadings through trial or settlement
  • Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and legal briefs
  • Conduct and defend depositions, including fact and expert witnesses
  • Participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations
  • Develop litigation strategies and prepare cases for trial
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic counsel to clients
  • Collaborate with internal teams and maintain strong client relationships

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Active New York (NY) Bar license (required)

3–8+ years of commercial litigation experience

Strong knowledge of New York civil procedure and federal litigation processes

Experience handling motions, depositions, and court appearances

Trial experience is a plus


Preferred Skills

  • Experience handling complex, high-value commercial disputes
  • Familiarity with eDiscovery tools and litigation technology
  • Background in energy, oil & gas, or construction litigation
  • Strong negotiation and case strategy development skills
