Job Title: Avionics Technician III
Job Description
As an Avionics Technician III, you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing avionics equipment and systems. You will perform equipment setup and maintenance activities while utilizing precision measurement tools to fabricate fixtures. Additionally, you will carry out precision cleaning and chemistry processes, ensuring adherence to best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety. You will demonstrate correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware, apply 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness in daily tasks, collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality workmanship, and document and report any issues or discrepancies during inspections and tests.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair avionics equipment and systems.
- Perform equipment setup and maintenance activities.
- Use precision measurement tools for fixture fabrication.
- Conduct precision cleaning and chemistry processes.
- Adhere to general best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety.
- Demonstrate correct packaging and handling requirements for hardware.
- Apply 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness in daily tasks.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to project timelines.
- Document and report any issues or discrepancies found during inspections and tests.
Essential Skills
- 4 or more years of experience in avionics.
- Experience with soldering, crimping, and harness build.
- Proficiency in electronics testing and board repair.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Troubleshooting and diagnostic process knowledge.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with avionics systems and equipment, including navigation, communication, and flight control systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- IPC-620 active certification for wire harnessing.
- J-STD-001 or J-Standard certification for soldering assemblies.
- Understanding of RF principles and their application in avionics systems.
- Experience with Visio, Excel, and/or CAD Drawing software.
- Experience with fabrication and test.
- Experience with non-conformance resolution.
- NASA Certifications for soldering, crimping, and harnesses.
- Experience with harness fabrication and vacuum chambers.
- Good time-management skills.
Work Environment
You will work a typical day shift in a cleanroom environment, participating in innovative projects with a supportive team culture. A healthy work-life balance, opportunities for growth, and collaboration are key features of this environment. The role requires the ability to lift 50 lbs and climb a 13-foot ladder.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Louisville, CO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
