Job Summary:
You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Your primary goal is to ensure parts are manufactured with high accuracy, efficiency, and safety, supporting production targets and quality standards
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC machinery.
- Load and unload structural steel including pipe, angle, channel, and beam using forklifts, overhead cranes, or manual methods.
- Select and secure proper tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
- Retrieve and run programs created by CNC Programmers using provided nest packet.
- Ensure the correct program is loaded and double-check dimensions and materials before running.
- Adjust machine settings as needed for optimal performance and part quality.
- Inspect all first article parts and conduct in-process checks to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Use measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and templates to verify accuracy.
- Report any quality issues or deviations to your supervisor immediately.
- Follow all shop safety guidelines, including PPE use, crane/forklift operation, and emergency procedures.
- Keep work area clean and organized according to 5S principles.
- Perform basic maintenance such as cleaning nozzles, clearing slag trays, and checking fluid levels.
- Communicate any machine issues, material shortages, or job delays to your supervisor.
- Fill out Shop Detail Tracking reports with material consumption and time spent on programs issued by the CNC Programmer.
- Coordinate with CNC programmers, Area supervisors and material handlers to ensure smooth workflow.
- Assist other operators or departments as directed by the CNC Area Supervisor.
