Position Title: Seasonal Membership Customer Care Representative

Department: Membership

Reports to: Membership Manager

FLSA Status: Part-time Seasonal, Non-exempt

Compensation: $20 per hour

Term: March – end of June 2026

Schedule: 35 hours per week; 7-hour shifts Wednesdays – Sundays



Position Description:

Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) seeks to fill a seasonal Membership customer care representative position. This position reports to the Membership Manager and is a key part of a team that serves over 23,000 member households. The Membership customer care representative will provide both front-facing customer service to members and administrative support to the staff, splitting time between the desk in the Visitor's Center and the Development office. In this high-volume membership office, the customer care representative must possess excellent customer service and organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist members while visiting the Garden. This includes, but not limited to:

    • Assisting with onsite sales
    • Answering membership related questions
    • Organizing membership packet pick-up

  • Respond to member emails and prioritize urgent requests, including ticketing questions.
  • Answer member calls on membership hotline.
  • Enter data in Raiser’s Edge, including updating members’ contact information and marking if members need new membership cards or package.
  • Process memberships on Raiser's Edge
  • Act as liaison between Membership department and Visitor Services.
  • Other administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Comfort working with people; friendly, outgoing personality
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Motivated, energetic team player able to prioritize and work independently, as well as interact with members and BBG staff
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other database desired
  • Nonprofit experience, or strong interest in cultural institutions, environment, education, and or/science preferred
