Job Summary: The Data Analyst on our BI Team reviews large data files and large datasets to ensure accuracy, compliance, and relevance with legal, regulatory, and operational standards. This role involves cleaning and extracting information from semi-structured and unstructured data, identifying sensitive information, and maintaining strict confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, clean, and validate large datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Develop and maintain complex Excel models, dashboards, and reports
- Use advanced Excel functions (e.g., PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, nested formulas, VBA a plus)
- Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies within data sets
- Support data mining efforts by extracting, transforming, and organizing raw data
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand data requirements and deliver insights
- Document methodologies, assumptions, and data definitions
- Ensure data integrity and adherence to internal data standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. 1+ year of experience as a data analyst, business analyst, or similar role. Experience with data mining and/or data cleaning is a plus
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot discrepancies
- Strong MS Excel skills are required. Candidates should be comfortable with advanced formulas, functions (PivotTables, Power Query, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, Index/Match, etc.) and macros. VBA is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in an independent, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Exposure to SQL, Power BI, or tableau is a plus
Typical Schedule/Other Details: This is a fully onsite role, and we prefer local candidates to Reston, VA. This is a full-time role. This position may require the employee to remain in the office beyond standard working hours until all essential duties and assignments are completed. Work hours may vary depending on workload and business needs.
