Position Summary
We are looking for a Business Development Manager for our New Jersey window and door showroom. This position will be responsible for client development, channel development, and sales opportunity management in New Jersey and the surrounding areas.
The Business Development Manager is expected to actively develop the local market, build a strong client network, and establish relationships with homeowners, builders, contractors, architects, designers, real estate professionals, dealers, and other channel partners. The position will also use the showroom as a product demonstration and customer experience center to turn qualified leads into active projects and sales.
Key Responsibilities
1.Local Market Development
- Develop new business and customer opportunities in New Jersey and the surrounding areas;
- Build a target customer map and identify priority markets, customer segments, and development plans;
- Generate sales opportunities through client visits, outbound prospecting, referrals, industry events, and business partnerships;
- Build and maintain a local network of builders, contractors, architects, designers, real estate professionals,dealers, and other potential partners;
- Identify effective customer acquisition methods and partnership opportunities based on local market conditions.
2. Sales Opportunity Management and Conversion
- Communicate with customers to understand their project background, product needs, budget, timeline, and decision-making process;
- Coordinate product solutions, samples, quotations, and supporting materials, and clearly explain the value of our products and proposed solutions;
- Move opportunities through key stages, including showroom visits, project discussions, measurements, quotations, solution confirmation, contract signing, and order placement;
- Define clear next steps for priority opportunities and maintain consistent follow-up;
- Identify project risks and barriers to closing, and coordinate internal resources to address them;
- Make responsible commitments to customers and ensure that information related to pricing, lead times, products, installation, and after-sales support is accurate.
3. Key Account and Channel Development
- Identify and maintain relationships with key customers who have long-term business potential;
- Develop a network of builders, contractors, architects, designers, dealers, and other business partners;
- Create follow-up and relationship management plans based on different customer types;
- Turn one-time project customers into long-term customers, repeat buyers, or referral sources.
4. Showroom Sales and Customer Experience
- Use the New Jersey showroom as an important platform for product demonstrations, customer communication, and sales conversion;
- Invite qualified customers to visit the showroom and organize product demonstrations, solution discussions, and business meetings;
- Work with showroom reception and operations staff to ensure that samples, product information, and meeting materials are ready before customer visits;
- Provide recommendations for improving showroom displays, customer reception procedures, and sales materials based on customer feedback.
5. Internal Communication and Project Coordination
- Maintain effective communication with the sales, estimating, technical, production, delivery, and after-sales teams at the China headquarters;
- Communicate North American customer requirements accurately and explain technical information from headquarters in clear, customer-friendly language;
- Plan ahead for time-zone differences and proactively coordinate meetings, documents, and project milestones;
- When issues arise, clearly explain the background, available options, recommendations, and risks rather than simply passing the issue to headquarters;
- Maintain reasonable scheduling flexibility when communication with the China-based team is required.
6. Pipeline Management and Market Feedback
- Keep customer information, follow-up records, and sales stages updated in the CRM or sales tracking system;
- Review the sales pipeline regularly and determine project priorities, expected timelines, and next steps;
- Collect and summarize information about local competitors, price ranges, customer preferences, and market changes;
- Provide management with practical, fact-based market feedback and business recommendations;
- Regularly review client development activities, showroom visits, quotations, and conversion results, and adjust the market development approach when needed.
Qualifications
1. Professional Experience
- 3–8 years of B2B sales, project-based sales, or business development experience in the United States;
- Experience in windows and doors, building materials, home improvement, construction-related products, hardware, or a related industry is preferred;
- Existing relationships with builders, contractors, architects, designers, project customers, or dealer networks are preferred;
- Experience developing a new territory, opening a new market, or building a customer network from the ground up is preferred;
- Proven ability to develop customers independently and manage the full sales process, rather than only preparing quotations or responding to incoming inquiries.
2. Business Skills
- Strong consultative and project-based sales skills, with the ability to understand customer needs and recommend suitable solutions;
- Strong outbound prospecting, relationship-building, and follow-up capabilities;
- Ability to present products and solutions, conduct business negotiations, and move sales opportunities forward;
- Basic knowledge of sales pipeline management, customer prioritization, and project cycle management;
- Ability to quickly learn window and door products, basic technical information, and project delivery processes;
- Ability to manage local client visits independently and travel frequently with in the local market.
3. Communication and Language Skills
- Strong business English skills, with the ability to independently conduct client meetings, solution presentations, business negotiations, and risk-related discussions;
- Chinese-English bilingual ability is a strong plus;
- Experience working across Chinese and U.S. business cultures and accurately communicating between a China-based headquarters team and North American customers is preferred;
- Ability to explain complex product or technical information in clear, customer-friendly language.
Compensation
- Base salary: USD $6,000–$10,000 per month;
- he final base salary will depend on the candidate’s industry experience, local client network, and scope of responsibilities;
- The compensation package may include sales commissions and performance-based incentives;
- Strong performers may achieve higher total annual compensation. The final compensation structure will be discussed and confirmed with the selected candidate.
