We are looking for a hands-on Custodial Team Lead to supervise and work alongside cleaning staff in local government and school facilities. This role combines leadership duties with active participation in daily cleaning tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, and evaluate custodial staff
- Assign tasks, distribute supplies/equipment, and inspect work for quality
- Address and resolve employee or client concerns
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment
- Operate cleaning machinery, snow removal equipment, and other power tools
- Perform cleaning duties including floor care, restroom sanitation, and trash removal as needed
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and proper equipment usage
- Coordinate and support special cleaning projects and seasonal programs (e.g., summer deep cleaning)
- Respond to facility needs during inclement weather or emergencies as essential personnel
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a custodian, janitor, or in a similar role preferred
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in custodial or building maintenance services (or 3 years custodial experience with leadership duties)
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and standard operating procedures
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, operate powered equipment, and perform physical cleaning tasks
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Must be fingerprinted and pass criminal background check, drug screening, and TB test
Schedule: Monday–Friday with possible evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on assignment
