Guide a 1st shift steel fabrication team in Temperance, MI to hit schedule, quality, and cost targets—safely and consistently.
You Will
- Direct daily production to meet commitments for throughput, quality, and cost.
- Build and adjust production schedules to align with customer and business needs.
- Oversee changeovers, start-ups, and shutdowns to minimize downtime.
- Respond to bottlenecks, breakdowns, and planned downtime to restore flow quickly.
- Provide hands-on leadership on the floor; train, coach, and develop team members.
- Manage timesheets, training records, and disciplinary actions with HR.
- Maintain proper staffing; assist with interviews and arrange coverage for vacations and call-offs.
- Ensure product quality and support internal/external audits.
- Accurately complete production, operating, and quality reports on time.
- Drive continuous improvement for safety, quality, efficiency, and cost control.
- Communicate equipment issues; assist Maintenance with repairs and preventative tasks.
- Enforce OSHA and company safety policies; sustain a clean, organized work area; correct unsafe acts/conditions.
- Coordinate with fellow supervisors and production, maintenance, and quality teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet plant objectives.
What It Takes
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in production/manufacturing.
- Manufacturing industry background required; steel experience preferred.
- Demonstrated team leadership—motivation, coaching, and development.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills in fast-moving operations.
- Flexibility to work overtime and pivot with changing priorities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
- Proficiency with production reporting systems and Microsoft Office.
- ISO 9001 audit exposure preferred.
