Job Description: The Civil Field Engineer is responsible for providing on-site technical support and supervision for civil and structural construction activities. Working closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent, the Civil Field Engineer ensures work is carried out safely, accurately, and in compliance with project specifications, design drawings, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. This role involves field inspections, progress monitoring, problem-solving, and coordination with contractors, vendors, and design teams to achieve successful project delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and monitor daily civil/structural construction activities on site.
  • Interpret and review project drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support the Project Manager in scheduling, resource allocation, and progress tracking.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks on materials, workmanship, and construction methods.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Resolve technical issues on-site by coordinating with design engineers, consultants, and contractors.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, and adherence to project standards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate site documentation, including daily reports, inspection records, and progress logs.
  • Assist in managing requests for information (RFIs), submittals, and change orders.
  • Support project close-out activities, including punch lists and final inspections.
  • the applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of civil/structural engineering principles, construction practices, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and survey layouts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction/engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Procore).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in the field, manage multiple tasks, and collaborate with diverse teams.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field.
  • 3 years of relevant field engineering or site supervision experience (internship or co-op experience acceptable for entry-level).
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
    • Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions.
