Our Real Estate Litigation Department represents clients in complex property disputes, landlord-tenant matters, contract disputes, partition actions, title issues, and other real estate-related litigation throughout New York.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Real Estate Litigation Paralegal to join our growing litigation team. This is an urgent hiring need, and the successful candidate must be available to start as soon as possible.
Position Overview
As a Real Estate Litigation Paralegal, you will work closely with attorneys handling a variety of New York real estate litigation matters from inception through trial and post-judgment proceedings. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple litigation matters in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, draft, and file pleadings, motions, affirmations, affidavits, notices, discovery demands, responses, subpoenas, and other litigation documents.
- Prepare court filings through the New York State Courts Electronic Filing (NYSCEF) system.
- Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including case preparation, motion practice, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
- Draft correspondence, legal documents, and client communications under attorney supervision.
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical litigation files.
- Manage discovery, including document production, document review, and organizing exhibits.
- Coordinate depositions, court appearances, mediations, hearings, and client meetings.
- Track court deadlines, scheduling orders, and filing requirements to ensure timely compliance.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, title companies, lenders, and other third parties.
- Assist with preparing trial exhibits, witness files, trial binders, and hearing materials.
- Perform legal research and assist attorneys with case preparation as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably in New York Real Estate Litigation.
- Experience with New York Supreme Court litigation procedures and NYSCEF electronic filing is required.
- Strong understanding of New York civil litigation procedures.
- Experience handling discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple active litigation matters.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and legal case management software (experience with Clio is preferred).
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal education is preferred.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff.
