Berner Food & Beverage, a world‑class North American co‑manufacturer, is looking for a PLC Systems Technician who thrives on fast diagnostics, clean code, and production uptime.

Does this sound like you?

  • Fluent with Allen‑Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs?
  • Comfortable configuring remote I/O on EtherNet/IP or Modbus?
  • Experienced with machine vision (Cognex/Keyence)?
  • Confident reading P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics?
  • Able to train others and communicate clearly across shifts?

What you will tackle

  • Program, commission, and troubleshoot PLC/HMI systems to keep production at peak throughput.
  • Root‑cause controls issues across sensors, drives, and vision; implement and validate software/hardware changes.
  • Maintain a complete library of device backups and revision histories; document updates to electrical and process prints.
  • Collaborate with the Network Administrator to support the Facility Controls Network.
  • Lead by example on safety, GMPs, and Food Safety; verify guarding and procedures are followed.
  • Execute work orders and preventive maintenance with minimal guidance; mentor peers on troubleshooting methodology.
  • Review KPIs and equipment data with leadership to drive continuous improvement.

What you need to bring

  • Strong experience in automation controls and PLCs; Allen‑Bradley proficiency required.
  • HMI development skills; ability to configure remote I/O (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, or similar).
  • Knowledge of control wiring up to 480V and solid electrical fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; excellent teamwork and communication.
  • Education: Technical degree in a related field, AAM graduation, or equivalent experience; High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical coursework/degree is a plus.
  • Food processing experience is a plus.

Perks & pay

  • Pay: $32.00–$40.00/hour (experience‑based) + $2.00 PM shift differential.

Schedule & working conditions

  • Flexible rotating schedule—work ~14 days per month.
  • 12‑hour night shifts (2‑2‑3 rotation, every other weekend).
  • Indoor manufacturing setting; extended standing/walking up to 12 hours; periodic walking on wet or slippery floors.
