About:

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area (BBBSNCA), the premier one-to-one mentoring organization in the DC Metro region, seeks a full-time Development Manager to support and execute fundraising strategies that advance our mission of empowering youth through mentorship.

Reporting to the Vice President of Mission Partnerships, the Development Manager plays a critical role in revenue generation through signature fundraising events, individual giving, and corporate partnerships. This role works collaboratively across teams to deliver a donor-centered experience, strengthen relationships, and drive measurable fundraising outcomes.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a mission-driven, collaborative environment with meaningful impact, professional growth, and direct involvement in high-profile fundraising initiatives. Occasional evening and weekend work is required to support events and donor engagements.

This is a hybrid position, requiring in-office presence three days per week, including every Wednesday (mandatory). Employees may report in-person to our DC or MD (Gaithersburg) office for their in-office days.

This position offers a supportive team environment, opportunities for growth, and a chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. Please, no calls and no agencies at this time.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising & Events

  • Support the planning and execution of signature fundraising events, including The BIG Celebration and Annual Golf Open, with responsibilities spanning sponsorship solicitation, ticketing, guest experience, and event logistics.
  • Assist with smaller cultivation and fundraising events, such as workplace-based engagements and Big For A Day events, to deepen donor and partner engagement.

Individual Giving

  • Grow individual giving as a core revenue stream by stewarding existing donors and increasing donor engagement and contributions over time.
  • Support donor acquisition through multi-channel fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, digital campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising, and workplace/public sector giving (e.g., CFC, DC One Fund).

Corporate Partnerships

  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Mission Partnerships to manage and steward existing corporate partners, including event sponsors, workplace-based mentoring partners, and volunteer engagement hosts.
  • Assist in identifying, cultivating, and engaging new corporate prospects aligned with BBBSNCA’s mission and fundraising goals.

Donor Stewardship & Communications

  • Support timely donor and partner acknowledgments, thank-you letters, impact updates, and ongoing stewardship touchpoints to ensure a consistent, relationship-centered experience.
  • Assist with development-related content for web pages, newsletters, and social media to promote giving, event participation, and corporate engagement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or a related field required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, development, or event management.
  • Demonstrated success in donor cultivation, relationship management, and event coordination.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems preferred.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends and attend local events as needed.

This position is being recruited by My Valuable Business, LLC on behalf of a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth through mentorship and educational programming.
