Description\n

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for an inpatient night shift position requiring 1+ years of respiratory therapy experience and current RRT certification.

  • Inpatient respiratory therapy unit setting
  • \n

  • Night shift schedule, 5:30 PM to 6:00 AM
  • \n

  • 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours per week)
  • \n

  • Rotating weekend and holiday coverage required
  • \n

  • No floating required
  • \n

Requirements\n

    \n
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in respiratory therapy, ventilator management, EKG, oxygen administration, and airway management
  • \n

  • Basic knowledge of pulmonary and cardiovascular anatomy and physiology
  • \n

  • Associate's degree or Certificate in Respiratory Therapy
  • \n

  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (American Heart Association)
  • \n

  • RRT credential (NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist)
  • \n

  • Illinois RCP license required if applicable
  • \n

  • Experience with BiPAP setup, arterial punctures, arterial line draws, and pulmonary function testing
  • \n

Additional Information\n

    \n
  • Provide comprehensive respiratory care under physician and department director guidance
  • \n

  • Administer oxygen therapy and set up, initiate, and maintain ventilators and CPAP devices
  • \n

  • Assist with intubation and provide airway maintenance, including endotracheal and tracheostomy care
  • \n

  • Initiate and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other life support procedures as needed
  • \n

  • Administer respiratory medications and monitor for side effects
  • \n

  • Perform bronchial secretion removal techniques including suctioning, postural drainage, and chest percussion
  • \n

  • Perform pulmonary function testing and 12-lead EKGs when trained
  • \n

  • Oversee certified and non-certified technicians performing specialized procedures as needed
  • \n

  • Set up BiPAP and Optiflow devices and evaluate patient response to therapy
  • \n

  • Perform arterial punctures and arterial line draws per established guidelines
  • \n

  • Provide age-specific patient care across all patient populations
  • \n

  • Work independently and supervise shift needs as required
  • \n

  • RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
  • \n

  • Radius rule of 50 miles applies; local candidates not accepted
  • \n
