Direct Counsel is seeking a Political Law Associate Attorney to join a highly regarded Am Law 100 law firm in Washington, DC. This is an outstanding opportunity for a mid-level attorney with substantial political law experience to join a nationally recognized, Chambers-ranked practice representing high-profile clients on complex regulatory and compliance matters.

About the Role
The successful candidate will join a premier Political Law practice advising clients on a broad range of political law matters, including campaign finance, government ethics, lobbying compliance, pay-to-play regulations, and related issues. The practice represents blue-chip clients and is recognized for its market-leading work in vetting and appointments, as well as its deep experience with pay-to-play and placement agent regulations.
Responsibilities

Advise clients on federal, state, and local political law compliance matters.

Counsel clients on campaign finance, lobbying, government ethics, gift and entertainment rules, and pay-to-play laws.

Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, opinions, and other legal documents.

Manage multiple complex matters while providing practical legal guidance.

Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas to deliver strategic solutions for clients.

Maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and exceptional client service.

Assist with business development and contribute to the continued growth of the Political Law practice.
Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school.

Admission to the District of Columbia Bar is required.

5–6 years of political law experience at a law firm or comparable practice.

Significant experience with campaign finance law, government ethics, lobbying laws, gift and entertainment rules, and pay-to-play regulations.

Strong academic credentials.

Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.

Experience supervising or mentoring junior attorneys is a plus.
Compensation
$365,000 – $390,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
