Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. In this Contract-to-permanent position, you will play a key role in supporting attorneys by managing legal documentation, scheduling, and case preparation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in personal injury law and case management to contribute to a dynamic legal environment.
Responsibilities:
• Assist attorneys in preparing for client meetings, depositions, hearings, mediation, trials, and witness interviews.
• Draft a variety of legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and expert witness designations.
• Schedule and coordinate all trial-related meetings and manage associated deadlines.
• File legal documents in state and federal courts, including appeals and the Virginia Supreme Court.
• Review and redact medical bills for trial purposes.
• Calculate court deadlines and ensure all dates are accurately entered into calendars.
• Oversee and audit liens, including those related to Medicare, Medicaid, workers' compensation, and other entities.
• Utilize case management software to organize and track case progress.
• Perform client intake interviews and gather essential case information.
• Handle additional administrative and legal tasks as assigned.
• At least 3 years of experience in personal injury plaintiff work.
• Proficiency in managing liens associated with Medicare, Medicaid, workers' compensation, and other programs.
• Strong familiarity with case management systems and high-volume case handling.
• Experience drafting legal documents and conducting client intake interviews.
• Knowledge of legal filing procedures for state and federal courts.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
• Ability to effectively use tools such as Aderant, Adobe Acrobat, and CompuLaw.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
