Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description
This role combines hands-on production work with material handling in a fast-paced automotive environment. Production Operators focus on the assembly and disassembly of engines, performing key quality checks and using hand tools and equipment to ensure each unit meets specifications. Material Handlers operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks to move engines through the warehousing and shipping process, supporting efficient delivery to the manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Perform assembly and disassembly of fully manufactured engines, carefully removing and reinstalling components according to established procedures.
- Apply coolant to engines and components as required to support testing and production processes.
- Conduct leak tests and other basic inspections to verify engine quality and identify issues before shipping.
- Work on an assembly line, following standardized work instructions and maintaining consistent production flow.
- Use hand tools and other basic equipment safely and effectively during engine assembly and disassembly.
- Handle heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks, including standing for the majority of the shift and moving engines or components as needed.
- Operate forklifts, tuggers, and cherry pickers to move engines and materials throughout the warehouse and production areas.
- Support warehousing, inventory, and shipping and receiving activities by staging, loading, and unloading engines and materials.
- Transport engines and related materials safely to designated areas for shipment to the manufacturing facility.
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of steel toe footwear and adherence to equipment operating procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area across multiple stations within the facility.
- Collaborate with team members and shift personnel to meet production targets and shipping schedules.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of experience working in a production or warehouse environment.
- Minimum of 1 year of machine operation experience and/or forklift/hi-lo operation experience.
- Ability to perform assembly and disassembly tasks using hand tools in a production setting.
- Experience working on an assembly line and following standardized work instructions.
- Proficiency in basic inspection activities, including leak testing and visual checks.
- Capability to operate forklifts, tuggers, and cherry pickers in a fast-paced warehousing and shipping environment.
- Comfort with heavy lifting and physically demanding work, including standing for most of the shift.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Willingness to complete drug testing, including THC screening.
- Ownership and use of steel toe shoes or boots while on the job.
- Ability to work assigned shifts, including first, second, or third shift schedules.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
