CNC Turning Programmer/Setter (Lathe)

You start by pulling the day’s prints, translating requirements into clean CNC lathe programs, and setting up the machine for first-article runs. You dial in offsets, prove out code, and verify dimensions on both CNC and manual lathes. Throughout the shift, you hold demanding tolerances, document results with care, and collaborate with teammates to keep jobs flowing safely and efficiently. By day’s end, you’ve produced high-quality metal components that meet exacting specifications—driving efficiency, quality, and innovation in a fast-paced, precision-driven environment.
What you’ll do
- Program and set up CNC lathes directly from print requirements and written instructions.
- Operate both CNC and manual lathes to produce precision metal components to spec.
- Interpret blueprints and specifications; select tooling and set proper speeds/feeds.
- Hold tight tolerances and verify critical features using micrometers, bore gauges, and related instruments.
- Work confidently across different material types, adjusting processes as needed.
- Document measurements and results with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Contribute positively to team productivity, cooperation, data collection, and a safety-first attitude.
What you bring
- Machining experience: 4+ years (required).
- Hands-on skill programming and setting up CNC machines from prints and instructions.
- Strong print reading; thorough understanding of specifications and GD&T principles.
- Proven ability to maintain tight tolerances on turning work.
- Comfort working with a variety of metals and materials.
- Proficient with precision measuring tools (micrometers, bore gauges, etc.).
- Familiarity with Mazatrol and G-code is a plus.
- Meticulous documentation habits and a collaborative mindset.
