The Role
\n
We're looking for a College Advisor to join our remote, contract team and guide students through every stage of the application journey — from extracurricular development and college list-building to Common App strategy, supplemental essay review, and scholarship guidance. You'll work one-on-one with students (and often their families), bringing a writer's eye and a strategist's instincts to help each applicant tell the story only they can tell.

This is a flexible, session-based role: you'll meet with students synchronously and/or provide asynchronous essay feedback, based on what each student needs.

What You'll Do

- Guide students through the college admissions process — from building a balanced school list to polishing final supplements
- Provide expert, editorial-level feedback on Common App personal statements and supplemental essays
- Offer academic and extracurricular advising tailored to each student's goals and interests
- Support students through scholarship and fellowship applications
- Respond promptly to scheduling and logistical requests from students and families
- Collaborate with the Ellipsis team to ensure a consistent, high-quality student experience

What We're Looking For
\n
- \n
- Demonstrated experience in college advising/counseling and essay review
- Strong background in student counseling, mentorship, or academic advising
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort working independently in a remote, contract capacity
- Responsiveness and reliability with scheduling and day-to-day student communication
- Bachelor's degree in English, Writing, or a related field (MA/MFA a plus)
- Experience working with diverse student populations across backgrounds and geographies
