Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the development and implementation of architectural designs for a project.
  • Coordinate the activities of a project team to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of construction.
  • Interface and supervise communication with client, contractor, agencies, engineering and specialty consultants. Evaluate consultant qualifications and coordinate the proposal and selection process.
  • Supervise project teams and schedules during schematic design, design development, and construction documents to ensure compliance with established specifications and standards.
  • Sign contracts and Instruments of Service (Architect of Record).
  • Develop and implement policies for production of construction documents, architectural designs, and procedures for construction. Provide building code requirements, zoning and material specification.
  • Carry out cost estimates to determine the budget required for project materials and equipment.
  • Oversee the design and construction operations to ensure timely and profitable completion. Maintain project quality control by reviewing and making necessary adjustments on shop drawings.
  • Handle administrative and non-technical functions while working on small scale projects.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of architectural project procedures and standards.
  • Coordinate the submission of documents to the building department and manage construction administration (site visits, RFIs, Change Orders, shop drawings, submittals, etc.).


REQUIRED SKILLS & DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Architecture from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in a professional office setting including broad experience in various project types and phases preferred.
  • Licensed in California and/or other states; LEED and NCARB Certification preferred.
  • Advanced level in operating Revit, CAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Office and project management software, i.e., Deltek Vision.
  • Strong listening, oral/verbal and written communication, time management and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex technical problems.
