Job Description

Job DescriptionRight from the start, American Locker has continually led the industry we invented with an unstoppable series of innovative solutions - like inventing the first coin-operated locker. Our years of innovative American manufacturing have led us to create the widest range of customized solutions in the industry. Our smart locker systems are built to satisfy any solution with maximum security; intelligent keyless lockers that accept credit cards, charge laptops, send text messages, and more.
About the Role

The Laser Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs that drive our laser cutting operations. This role translates engineering designs into precise machine instructions, ensuring high-quality output, efficient material usage, and consistent production performance.

You’ll work closely with engineering and production teams to support both new product introduction and ongoing manufacturing, with a strong focus on sheet metal fabrication.

This is a highly hands-on role that requires both technical expertise and problem-solving ability—you’re not just writing programs, you’re making sure they work in the real world.

What You’ll Do

CNC Programming & Optimization

  • Create, edit, and maintain CNC programs (G-code) for laser cutting and related machinery
  • Utilize CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360) to develop accurate and efficient programs
  • Optimize programs for speed, material utilization, and machine efficiency
  • Support programming for Amada Mitsubishi laser systems and related equipment

Blueprint & Design Interpretation

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models
  • Apply GD&T principles to ensure precision and compliance with specifications
  • Translate design intent into manufacturable processes

Process Setup & Tooling

  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters (feeds, speeds, offsets)
  • Support setup and validation of new jobs on the production floor
  • Ensure programs are production-ready and repeatable

Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement

  • Diagnose and resolve programming and machining issues in real time
  • Debug programs and adjust for machine performance or material variation
  • Partner with engineering and operations to improve processes and reduce waste

Quality Assurance

  • Inspect first-run parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Ensure all output meets engineering and quality standards
  • Identify and address root causes of defects related to programming or process

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with manufacturing engineering, machinists, and production teams
  • Support new product introduction and prototyping efforts
  • Contribute to process improvements across fabrication and finishing operations

RequirementsWhat We’re Looking For
Experience & Technical Skills

  • Strong experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360)
  • Proficiency in G-code programming for CNC machinery
  • Experience with laser cutting systems (Amada Mitsubishi preferred)
  • Solid understanding of machining processes, materials, and fabrication methods
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T

Core Capabilities

  • Strong mathematical skills (algebra, geometry, trigonometry)
  • High attention to detail and commitment to precision
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine behavior

Education

  • High school diploma required
  • Technical certificate or associate degree in machining, manufacturing, or engineering preferred

Nice to Have / Expanded Scope

  • Experience with automation in a manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to powder coating or paint shop processes
  • Familiarity with integrated production environments (cutting → finishing workflows)

What Success Looks Like

  • Programs run efficiently with minimal errors or rework
  • High-quality parts produced consistently to specification
  • Reduced material waste and improved cycle times
  • Strong collaboration between programming, engineering, and production

Benefits

  • Be part of a rapidly growing, innovative company transforming package management solutions.
  • Work within a collaborative team environment guided by clear core values and EOS methodology.
  • Competitive compensation, professional growth opportunities, and impactful work.
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Generous health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Accrued Paid Time Off and Sick Leave
