About the Role:

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of facilities by performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks. This position requires hands-on expertise in mechanical, electrical, and structural systems to promptly address and resolve issues that could disrupt daily operations. The technician will be responsible for conducting routine inspections, troubleshooting malfunctions, and implementing preventative maintenance to extend the lifespan of equipment and infrastructure. Collaboration with other team members and clear communication with management are essential to prioritize work orders and maintain a safe working environment. Ultimately, the Maintenance Technician contributes to the seamless functioning of the facility, supporting both productivity and safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in maintenance work involving plumbing, electrical wiring, mechanical repair, and carpentry.
  • Ability to safely climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Good hearing and verbal communication skills to understand instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Basic knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to follow them consistently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certification or vocational training in maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments and advanced troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Previous experience working in a commercial or industrial facility environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on plumbing, electrical wiring, mechanical systems, and structural components such as drywall and carpentry.
  • Use precision measuring tools to assess and ensure the accuracy of repairs and installations.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Climb ladders and access confined spaces safely to perform maintenance tasks at various heights and locations within the facility.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, report issues to management, and collaborate with team members to prioritize and complete work orders efficiently.

Skills:

The required skills such as plumbing, electrical wiring, and mechanical repair are applied daily to maintain and restore facility systems to optimal working condition. Precision measuring ensures that repairs and installations meet exact specifications, preventing future malfunctions. Carpentry and drywall skills are essential for structural repairs and modifications, contributing to the overall integrity of the facility. The ability to climb ladders safely allows the technician to access elevated or hard-to-reach areas for inspection and repair. Effective communication and hearing skills enable the technician to understand work orders, coordinate with colleagues, and ensure that maintenance tasks are completed accurately and safely.
