Job Title: Linux/Unix Engineer

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Linux/Unix Engineer to support enterprise-scale production environments within a financial services setting. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), networking, automation, virtualization, and data center operations.
This role requires hands-on experience managing secure, complex server estates across on-premise and cloud (AWS) environments, along with strong troubleshooting and stakeholder management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, configure, and maintain production Linux environments (primarily RHEL 6 & 7).
- Administer and support Red Hat products, including Satellite 6.
- Provide expert-level support for RHEL server operating systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex server, networking, and infrastructure issues.
- Support enterprise-scale, secure server estates across on-prem and AWS cloud environments.
- Implement and maintain automation using scripting (Bash/Python) and configuration management tools (Chef, Ansible, Puppet).
- Manage clustering technologies such as Veritas and Oracle RAC.
- Support virtualization platforms including VMware.
- Work within physical data center environments.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and suppliers across global teams.
- Follow ITIL processes and best practices.
- Participate in support activities, including occasional unsociable hours as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 8–10 years of experience building, configuring, and maintaining production Linux environments (RHEL preferred).
- Expert knowledge of:
- Server-side networking (TCP / UDP / Multicast)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6 & 7)
- Satellite 6
- RHCE Certified (Mandatory).
- ITIL Foundation Certified.
- Experience with:
- Bash or Python scripting
- Automation tools (Chef, Ansible, Puppet)
- VMware virtualization
- AWS cloud environments
- Clustering technologies (Veritas, Oracle RAC)
- Strong understanding of data center operations.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale, complex, and secure server estates.
- Some financial services industry experience (Required).
- Excellent troubleshooting, investigative, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing vendors and third-party suppliers.
- Experience working in global, fast-paced environments.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across multiple organizational levels.
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments.
