Registered Nurse (RN) – Correctional Facility

Location: Coal Township, Pennsylvania 17866

Position Type: Long Term Open Ended Contract

Shifts Available: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift

1st shift- 6:00 am to 2:30PM

2nd Shift – 2:00PM to 10:30PM

3rd Shift: 10pm to 6:30am

All included every other weekend

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide nursing care. Nurses will deliver direct patient care, conduct clinical assessments, administer medications and treatments, and respond to medical emergencies while maintaining a safe, professional, and secure healthcare environment.

This opportunity is ideal for nurses who are comfortable practicing independently, making sound clinical decisions, and working collaboratively with medical staff and correctional personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments, evaluate patient conditions, and identify changes requiring intervention.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.
• Maintain accurate medical records, medication administration records, and controlled-substance documentation.
• Provide wound care, treatment follow-ups, and sick-call services.
• Recognize and respond promptly to medical emergencies.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition, medication reactions, and other health concerns.
• Implement infection prevention and control procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians, mental health professionals, and correctional staff to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain professional boundaries and comply with facility security procedures and healthcare policies.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice in Pennsylvania.
• Ability to perform nursing assessments and provide direct patient care independently.
• Strong clinical judgment, critical-thinking, and documentation skills.
• Ability to administer medications and treatments safely.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a secure correctional healthcare environment.

Correctional nursing experience is beneficial. Candidates must be comfortable working with a diverse patient population and following established security and safety protocols.

Schedule & Compensation

• $55-58/hr. paid weekly

Work Environment

This is an onsite position within a secure Pennsylvania correctional facility. Candidates must be able to maintain professional conduct, follow institutional security requirements, and deliver safe, compassionate, and consistent nursing care.
