Associate Motor Repair Technician

Location: Rochester Hills, MI

The Associate Motor Repair Technician will be responsible for remanufacturing motors to 100% original use, assuring total satisfaction of customers.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Test and analyze motors to diagnose problems
  • Remanufacture motors while learning FANUC products and technical analysis, operating as a Motor Repair Department team member
  • Actively participate in on-the-job training with Supervisor and senior technicians
  • Keep test equipment in good working condition by performing maintenance
  • Complete estimates, remanufacturing, and all associated required paperwork in a timely, accurate manner
  • Participate in annual physical inventory
  • Must be available to work overtime if required
  • Other duties as assigned


Ideal Candidate Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years trade school or equivalent experience preferred
  • Six months to one year experience in a machine shop environment with hands-on experience repairing mechanical or electrical equipment
  • One year electrical motor repair experience
  • Formal or on-the-job knowledge of mechanics (hand tools, rotating machinery theory, vibration analysis)
  • Formal or on-the-job knowledge of electrical theory (electric motors, generator theory, semiconductors)
  • Ability to operate a lathe as required
  • Experience with equipment such as controls, drives, power supplies, hand tools, cleaning equipment, testing meters, overhead crane, Remay Demag machine, saw, drills, pumps and vacuums, oscilloscope, bearing press, and dial indicator
  • Basic computer skills including Word and Excel
  • Mechanical ability and troubleshooting ability for electrical problems


Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Physical mobility to lift, sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs/ladders while operating machinery
  • Hand, foot, and eye coordination, and manual/finger dexterity to operate a keyboard
  • May lift up to 75 pounds on occasion
  • Factory environment with variable temperatures, dirty work, and use of solvents to clean motors and parts
  • Steel-toed safety shoes required; safety glasses, weight belt, and hearing protection as needed
