IT & Business Intelligence Intern
For over 40 years, Hoffmann Brothers has served as the premier HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and Appliance Repair service and installation contractor in the St Louis area. Internship Overview
The IT Intern will play an active, hands-on role in supporting day-to-day business operations while gaining real-world experience across IT support, networking, and data analytics. This internship is ideal for a student who enjoys being involved, solving problems, and learning how IT & Business Intelligence supports a fast-paced business.
What You’ll Do
Approximately 70-80% of the internship will be focused on traditional IT systems, hardware, and software support and troubleshooting, including major enterprise-wide projects. The remaining 20–30% of the internship will focus on Business Intelligence, supporting our rollout of Microsoft Fabric data architecture, providing exposure to modern data platforms and enterprise analytics.
Business & IT Support:
- Provide day-to-day IT support for internal users, including hardware, software, and basic troubleshooting
- Assist with onboarding/offboarding tasks and general technology support
- Support business operations by responding to tickets and helping resolve technical issues efficiently
- Document processes, solutions, and recurring issues to improve IT workflows
Networking & Systems Exposure:
- Assist with basic network support and troubleshooting
- Gain exposure to network infrastructure, configurations, and monitoring
- Key administrative responsibilities in core platforms
Data Analytics & Reporting:
- Support data-related projects as part of our Microsoft Fabric rollout
- Assist with data preparation, validation, and reporting
- Work with Excel and other tools to analyze and visualize business data
- Learn how data is used to drive decisions across the organization
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, MIS, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field
- Rising sophomore or junior status preferred
- Experience or coursework involving:
- Networking fundamentals
- Microsoft Excel
- Strong interest in data analytics and business intelligence
- Comfortable juggling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Comfortable interfacing autonomously with business stakeholders
- Available for a long-term, multi-year engagement and available to work up to 30 hours per week, including during school break periods (flexible). Able to adhere to a daily schedule that you will establish with your leader at the beginning of each semester.
- Ability to use your own vehicle to commute between two business locations throughout the workday, as needed. Mileage reimbursement is available.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to data platforms, Power BI, SQL, Python, Microsoft Fabric (academic or personal projects are great)
- Prior IT support, help desk, or technical support experience
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Curious, proactive, and eager to learn
