Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel yard trucks, including engine overhaul, transmission servicing, and brake system repairs.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, alignment checks, and suspension inspections to maximize vehicle lifespan and safety.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulics, HVAC components, and other heavy equipment systems.
- Fabricate parts or modify equipment using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to meet operational needs.
- Inspect vehicles for compliance with safety standards including air brake systems, shocks & struts, wheel alignment, and suspension components.
- Document all repairs performed accurately in maintenance logs and communicate effectively with team members to coordinate service schedules.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of diesel technician experience (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine repair, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Skilled in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and fabrication tools necessary for equipment repair.
- Ability to lift heavy components safely during tire service or component replacement; comfortable performing heavy lifting tasks regularly.
