Position Summary: There is currently a need for one (1) I & E Mechanic at the Jefferson Terminal South location in Nederland, Texas. This is a full-time, Non-Exempt position, and work hours are a 4/10hr day shift rotation, with some overtime required. The selected candidate will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Job Purpose: The I & E Mechanic is responsible for safely performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production facility and services equipment according to maintenance systems and processes that support the site’s business goals and objectives. This position may be required to interface directly with managers, vendors, technical engineers, other M/C mechanics, E/C mechanics, operators, outside contractors, as well as production supervision. The organization is structured to operate as a self-sufficient, stand-alone facility. It is expected that all employees who work at this facility exercise a great deal of flexibility in their work to help facilitate the success of the business. It is expected that employees will cooperate and assist in their own development through cross-training and job experience.
Requirements:
Position Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Perform all job duties in accordance with all Safety, Health and Environmental standards and policies.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance on electrical, electronic, pneumatic and mechanical devices and systems using hand and power tools, electronic measuring instruments, diagnostic equipment, vendor literature, technical manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams.
- Complete assigned work orders in assigned timeframe.
- Diagnose and repair analyzers, instruments and other electrical equipment faults.
- Calibrate analyzers & instruments when necessary.
- Troubleshoot and repair facility lighting as needed.
- Maintains sufficient inventory of E&I supplies and repair parts to meet most emergency situations.
- Reports any unsafe practices or actions to supervisor, and complete tasks adhering to site EH&S policies.
- Continue to look for better and more efficient ways of doing job.
- Keeps lines of communication open to supervisor and other company employees while meeting the needs of all customers.
- Cross train with other E&I mechanics on areas of less experience.
- Respond to callouts on equipment after hours in emergency situations.
- Work with project managers, engineering and contractors on all new construction projects.
- Maintain all controls, monitor alarms and sensor tests.
- Solid understanding of electrical motor control and power distribution components.
- Knowledge of electrical prints and capable of making appropriate red-line changes to them.
- Good understanding of control logic cause and effects.
- Supervision of electrical contractors when required.
- Perform routine miscellaneous maintenance functions like changing light bulbs & assisting M/C mechanics when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements, Skills, Knowledge:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Possess or can obtain a valid TWIC card.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Minimum 3 years (5+ preferred) previous I & E Technician experience in a petrochemical facility required.
- Associates of Applied Science in a technical field, or equivalent skills and experience preferred.
- DeltaV experience and/or certifications preferred.
- Previous watertube boiler, CEMS, reverse osmosis and water treatment plant I & E experience a plus.
- Pipeline, marine dock, truck and rail terminal experience a plus.
- Requires good communication skills, written and verbal, self-motivation and assertive style.
- Job requires call-outs on a 24-hour emergency basis and an ability to work long hours, weekends, nights and holidays, when required.
- Must carry a cell phone and respond to calls in a timely manner.
- Must complete required yearly physical assessment for required PPE
- Use of hand tools to perform essential functions of the position.
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details and follow work rules.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time.
- Perform physical labor in a variety of extreme climatic conditions including walking, bending, stooping, climbing tanks, digging, lifting and general manual labor.
- Must be able to lift / carry 50 lbs.
- Must wear required PPE, which includes Respiratory protection
- Work outdoors for extended periods of time during inclement weather.
