Type: Temporary Assignment
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Community Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of one or more residential communities. This position plays a vital role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained living environment while maintaining compliance with housing regulations.
The Community Manager is responsible for supervising on-site staff, partnering with social service providers, and supporting residents with complex needs, including those navigating housing instability, mental health concerns, and substance use recovery. This role requires a proactive, trauma-informed approach, balancing empathy with strong leadership and compliance practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Resident Support and Engagement

Foster positive relationships with residents and cultivate a supportive community environment

Collaborate with onsite resident services to connect residents with appropriate resources

Manage resident communications, address complaints, and resolve conflicts
Operations and Compliance

Oversee daily property operations and ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards

Manage rent collection, security deposits, and delinquent accounts

Complete accurate reporting and documentation for certifications, re-certifications, and compliance audits (e.g., HUD, TCAC, Fair Housing)
Emergency and Risk Management

Maintain emergency preparedness and coordinate response procedures

Manage incident reports involving resident safety, property issues, or staff injuries
Team Leadership

Supervise and support on-site team members with regular feedback and performance management

Collaborate with internal departments and external partners

Participate in meetings, trainings, and wellness initiatives
Maintenance Oversight

Conduct property inspections to identify maintenance needs and follow up on repairs

Work with maintenance and facilities staff to implement preventative schedules

Ensure properties meet health and safety compliance requirements (e.g., fire codes, OSHA)
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
-
Minimum 3 years of multi-family property management experience, with at least 2 years in affordable housing or a comparable setting

At least 1 year of supervisory experience required

Preferred: Experience in supportive housing environments

Certification as a Tax Credit Specialist or Certified Occupancy Specialist preferred (or ability to obtain within six months)
Skills & Requirements:

Working knowledge of Fair Housing laws (must complete FHA training within 60 days of hire)

Strong interpersonal and crisis management skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property management systems (RealPage experience is a plus)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to stay calm, professional, and solutions-oriented under pressure

Must have a valid CA driver’s license, current insurance, and reliable transportation
Pay Details: $32.00 to $35.00 per hour
