WGI is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Chief Data Architect, Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team to support our customer, U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), in Doral, Florida. This position is contingent upon award of the USSOUTHCOM Cyber Information Technology Enterprise Services (SCITES II).

Key Responsibilities:

Works with business partners to define ways to leverage data to develop platforms and solutions to meet mission requirements, working towards mechanisms that characterize, shape, and normalize the data within the EIE to enable data-centric operations resulting in decisive military advantage

  • Employs both new and existing internal and external strategies, technologies, and policies to ensure that data is accessible, secure, and leveraged effectively in support of the USSOUTHCOM decision-making frameworks
  • Leads the architecture, design, build, and development of business intelligence for high performance and an adaptable data solution optimal for modern platforms with the ability to integrate technical functionality to deliver a robust, scalable data architecture that meets mission objectives and goals
  • Evaluates new data sources and develops strategies for warehouse implementation, data acquisition and access, and data archiving and recovery
  • Supports USSOUTHCOM’s Database Management System (DBMS) environments through installation and maintenance of COTS DBMS software packages
  • Provides industry standards of service, including preventive maintenance, inspections, and services, to maximize the reliability of infrastructure resources
  • Supports full range of data governance (i.e., principles, policies, processes, frameworks, tools) to manage data at all levels across the lifecycle, making the transition to support AI training and algorithmic models
  • Manages USSOUTHCOM Enterprise database and data modeling as it matures and modernizes
  • Provides technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments
  • Establishes goals and plans that meet project objectives
  • Possesses domain and expert technical knowledge
  • May supervise others

Required Qualifications:

  • Must hold an active secret level clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 13 years of experience in Data Architecture roles
  • DoD 8140 Advanced or similar industry certification
  • Mastery of data architectures and business intelligence tools with an emphasis on developing platforms and solutions for military mission requirements within an enterprise environment.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of data governance principles, policies, and processes across the full data lifecycle, with preferred experience in strategies for AI training and algorithmic models.
  • Exhibits strategic expertise in designing and implementing high-performance, adaptable data solutions that integrate with modern platforms to deliver robust, scalable architectures meeting mission objectives.
  • Proven ability to lead and facilitate meetings with diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with change management tools and ITSM platforms (ServiceNow)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a large, distributed IT enterprise
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and principles
  • MCSE Data Management or AWS Certified Big Data Specialty-Amazon Web Services
