Senior Help Desk Technician

  • Pay rate: $30/hour
  • Schedule: 2nd shift, Mon-Fri (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM)
  • Overtime is common due to workload, in compliance with California labor laws


Job Summary

The Senior Help Desk Technician provides hands-on technical support across a large, multi-building campus environment. This role supports both hardware and software systems and serves as a primary IT partner to manufacturing and office teams. The position requires strong troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

This is a highly visible role supporting approximately 1,400 employees across 10 closely located buildings. The Senior Help Desk Technician will be part of a growing IT team and will play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced hardware and software troubleshooting for end users across a multi-building campus
  • Support LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments, including switches, routers, and structured cabling
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure and telecommunications equipment
  • Support and maintain structured cabling infrastructure (Cat5e/Cat6), including termination and repair
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network drops, cabling layouts, and infrastructure changes
  • Manage inventory of network equipment, cables, and related hardware
  • Maintain clean and organized IDF/MDF rooms and telecom closets
  • Coordinate network installations and cabling projects with third-party vendors and internal facilities teams
  • Collaborate with IT team members to resolve network issues identified through user reports or monitoring tools
  • Provide desk-side support for hardware moves, additions, and changes
  • Enforce IT security policies and best practices
  • Deliver strong customer service to manufacturing and operations teams in a high-demand environment
  • Prioritize and manage multiple active issues simultaneously, responding to urgency rather than working from a single-ticket queue


Work Environment & Expectations

  • Support responsibility spans 10 buildings within a single campus
  • Fast-paced, high-volume support environment with multiple concurrent issues
  • Role requires proactive problem-solving rather than waiting for tickets to be assigned
  • Frequent interaction with manufacturing teams; customer service mindset is essential


Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Typically 4–6+ years of experience in IT support or networking environments (LAN/WAN/WLAN)
  • Strong experience troubleshooting both hardware and software issues
  • Solid understanding of physical and logical LAN architecture and client/server interactions
  • Experience with switches, routers, structured cabling, VPNs, and IP telephony
  • Familiarity with Microsoft operating systems and standard productivity tools
  • Proven ability to prioritize issues and manage multiple active problems simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting IT environments in manufacturing or operational settings
  • Experience with network monitoring and systems administration tools
  • Network certifications such as CCNA or Network+
