Job Description
This role involves performing industrial painting and paint preparation on metal components in a busy manufacturing environment. You will handle tasks such as sanding, priming, taping, finishing, and spraying using industrial painting equipment, while meeting production and quality standards. The position requires consistent attention to detail, safe work practices, and the ability to work on your feet throughout the shift in a loud and dusty industrial setting.
Responsibilities
- Perform industrial painting tasks including sanding, priming, taping, finishing, and spraying on metal parts and assemblies.
- Set up, operate, and maintain industrial paint equipment, including HVLP and electrostatic spray systems, according to work instructions and safety guidelines.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, grinding, and masking as required to achieve proper adhesion and finish quality.
- Read and interpret tape measurements in both metric and standard units to ensure accurate preparation and finishing of parts.
- Follow specified paint mixes, application techniques, and curing processes to meet quality and production standards.
- Use electric hand grinding tools, when needed, to remove imperfections and prepare surfaces prior to painting.
- Perform sand or shot blasting operations, when assigned, to clean and prepare metal surfaces.
- Safely operate or work around overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment while moving parts in and out of the paint area.
- Inspect finished work for coverage, color match, thickness, runs, and defects, and make necessary touch-ups or corrections.
- Meet or exceed daily and weekly production targets while maintaining consistent quality and minimizing rework.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and disposal of paint materials, chemicals, and equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures related to chemicals, paint fumes, noise, dust, and moving equipment, including the use of required personal protective equipment.
- Work effectively within a team environment, coordinating with machinists, welders, assemblers, and other production staff.
- Adapt to varying assignments and buildings within the facility, remaining aware of surroundings at all times.
Essential Skills
- At least 3–6 months of industrial painting experience or recent completion of a paint certification course.
- Hands-on experience with industrial painting processes such as sanding, priming, taping, finishing, and spraying.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure in both metric and standard units.
- Recent, solid work history of at least 6 months.
- Experience with HVLP spray systems in an industrial setting.
- Experience with electrostatic painting or willingness to learn and apply electrostatic techniques.
- Ability to stand and work on concrete floors and platforms for 100% of the shift.
- Ability to safely climb and work from step stools as needed.
- Capacity to work in a loud, dusty, and dirty industrial environment with rust, metal particles, and paint chemicals.
- Reliability and flexibility to work both first and second shifts, as well as overtime including 10- and 12-hour days.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with electric hand grinding tools for surface preparation.
- Experience operating or working closely with overhead cranes.
- Experience with sand or shot blasting processes.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently meet production standards in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with working alongside machinists, welders, assemblers, and forklift operators in a shared facility.
- Comfort working without a high school diploma or GED requirement, with focus placed on skills and work history.
- Strong attention to detail and quality in finishing painted surfaces.
- Willingness to participate in paid training to obtain higher-level certifications.

Work Environment
You will work in an industrial manufacturing environment that is loud, dusty, and dirty, with exposure to rust, metal particles, and paint chemicals. The role requires being on your feet 100% of the time on concrete floors and work platforms, and occasionally climbing step stools to access work areas. You may work in multiple buildings within the facility and share the workspace with machinists, welders, assemblers, forklift operators, and other production staff, so situational awareness is essential. The position involves using industrial painting technologies, including HVLP and electrostatic spray equipment, as well as tools for blasting and grinding. Available schedules include a first shift (approximately 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overtime is common and may involve 10- or 12-hour days, either before or after the regular shift, communicated in advance by supervision.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
