Job Description

The Technology Assistant is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and troubleshooting all school technology systems, including computers, iPads, technology platforms, printers, network connectivity, and related peripherals. This position ensures that instructional and assessment technology functions reliably and efficiently to support teaching, learning, and school operations.

The Technology Assistant works closely with administrators and instructional staff to manage technology platforms, maintain accurate student and staff technology rosters, monitor school-wide network functionality, coordinate repairs and services with vendors and insurance providers, and support digital communication efforts. The role also includes supporting technology setup, monitoring, and breakdown during school-wide and state assessments. Limited coverage support in classrooms, lunch, or car line may be required as assigned.

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:Technology & Systems Support

  • Maintain, manage, and inventory all school technology assets, including computers, iPads, carts, peripherals, and accessories
  • Conduct regular checks of the school's Wi-Fi and network systems and report or escalate connectivity issues as needed
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, printer, and connectivity issues for students, teachers, and administrators
  • Assist with device setup, configuration, updates, and basic repairs
  • Support classroom technology, including displays, printers, and instructional software
  • Maintain school-wide printers and ensure toner and supply orders are placed in a timely manner
  • Maintain the school's lamination machine and ensure laminating supplies are ordered and stocked as needed
  • Maintain accurate technology inventory records, including device assignments and condition tracking

Technology Platforms, Vendors & Access Management

  • Maintain school technology platforms and digital systems used by students and staff
  • Create, update, and manage student and staff rosters for technology platforms and logins
  • Ensure timely onboarding and offboarding of students and staff in technology systems
  • Support password resets, access issues, and basic account troubleshooting
  • Coordinate with technology vendors and service providers for maintenance, repairs, and support
  • Coordinate device repairs and replacements using the school's technology insurance program
  • Track repair requests, insurance claims, and returned devices to completion

Assessment & Operations Support

  • Set up, support, monitor, and break down technology for state and school-wide assessments
  • Ensure devices and platforms are updated, charged, and testing-ready prior to assessment windows
  • Troubleshoot real-time technology issues during testing windows
  • Assist with maintaining documentation related to testing technology requirements

Website & Social Media Support

  • Make updates to the school's website as directed by the Leadership Team
  • Post approved content to the school's social media platforms upon direction
  • Monitor and engage with social media comments and messages in a professional and timely manner
  • Flag inquiries, concerns, or issues on social media for Leadership review as appropriate

School-wide Support

  • Provide coverage in classrooms, lunch, or car line when assigned
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators while maintaining confidentiality
  • Follow school, district, and state policies related to technology use, data privacy, and security
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of computers, tablets (iPads), printers, and common operating systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware, software, account access, and network connectivity issues
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Professional communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in an IT support, technology assistant, or help desk role
  • Experience managing technology inventory and coordinating vendor services
  • Experience supporting technology during standardized testing or assessments
  • Familiarity with Wi-Fi/network systems, MDM platforms, website platforms, or school-based technology ecosystems
  • Experience working in a school or educational environment
