Our client is a global manufacturing company. They seek a temp Financial Controller to join their Manhattan, NY office.
Responsibilities
- Lead and improve the month-end close process, with a focus on reducing timelines and increasing accuracy
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank, AR, AP, inventory, and accruals
- Prepare and deliver accurate financial statements, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies proactively
- Oversee revenue recognition flows from ERP into the accounting system, including chargebacks and deductions
- Strengthen controls around AR, cash application, and collections visibility
- Manage inventory accounting across ERP and Microsoft Dynamics Business Central systems
- Ensure accurate COGS and landed cost allocations, including freight, duties, and drayage
- Establish and maintain cash management controls, including approvals and disbursement oversight
- Supervise accounting operations and team development across AP, AR, and staff accounting functions
Requirements
- 7-12+ years of accounting experience, including at a Controller or Senior Manager level
- Wholesale, distribution, or consumer goods industry required
- Strong experience with month-end close ownership in a high-volume environment
- Deep understanding of inventory and cost accounting
- Experience with chargebacks, deductions, and complex AR environment
- Hands-on operator — willing to dive into details and fix issues directly
- Experience with ERP systems
