The Tool Room Machinist interprets blueprints, operates and maintains equipment to fabricate, assemble, and repair precision parts which meet specified dimensions and quality standards. Responsible for the setup, testing, and adjustment of machines, ensuring smooth operation and efficiency in the production process. This is a hands-on position that requires technical expertise, precision, and a proactive approach to maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Schedule: 2nd Shift | Monday – Friday | 2:30pm – 11:00pm

Pay Range: $22.00 - $26.00/hour, depending on experience

Plus, $2.00/hour shift premium for 2nd shift

Work Location: HF (7034 IL Route 84, Savanna, IL 61074)

Reports to: Tooling Manager
What You Will Do as a Tool Room Machinist
-
Operate mechanical equipment (lathes, milling machines, grinders) to fabricate, assemble, and repair parts
-
Read and interpret blueprints and engineering specs to ensure accurate dimensions and tolerances

Set up, maintain, and service equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
-
Report issues with machinery or parts to supervisors for resolution

Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures

Help train less experienced team members

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Proficient with computer systems and technical applications
Required Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent

1+ years of machining and blueprint reading experience within a metal manufacturing environment

You know and can articulate what “making chips” means
-
Demonstrated steady work history with minimal employment gaps

History of reliable attendance record and punctuality - essential to support production timelines and team operations
