Legal Transcriptionist (Remote Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities)
Heritage Reporting Corporation Washington, D.C. (Nationwide)

Heritage Reporting Corporation, a privately owned, nationwide court reporting and transcription firm based in Washington, D.C., is currently seeking experienced Legal Transcriptionists to join our team. We have immediate openings for both full-time and part-time remote contractor positions.

Please note: Only candidates with legal transcription experience will be considered. Medical transcription experience does not fulfill this requirement.

Position Summary
As a Legal Transcriptionist, you will be responsible for transcribing and proofreading verbatim transcripts of court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings using digital audio files and company-supplied templates. This is a fully remote role that requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transcribe audio recordings of legal proceedings into accurate, verbatim transcripts
  • Proofread and format transcripts according to provided templates and client specifications
  • Submit final, client-ready documents within assigned deadlines
  • Commit to producing a minimum of 300 pages per week (25 lines per page)

Qualifications

  • Minimum 85 WPM typing speed (must be stated in your application)
  • At least 2 years of legal transcription experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and/or WordPerfect 12
  • Strong command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and legal terminology
  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • U.S. Citizenship is required all work must be completed within the U.S.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance
  • AAERT Certification preferred, but not required
