The checkout team is looking for an engineer to help develop a global checkout experience that pairs with a configurable payment routing system.
Non Technical Expectations:
- Freely admits when they don't know something, yet continues to express their opinions.
- Prioritizes writing code that others can easily read.
- Anticipates future changes and builds flexible patterns that make those changes easy to implement.
- Has the taste and experience to push back on low-quality AI-generated code.
- Loves jumping on calls to walk for pull requests or complex features.
- AI-curious – experimenting with tools like Cursor, Claude Code, Kira, etc., to enhance productivity thoughtfully.
- Questions whether the juice is worth the squeeze.
- Reads documentation (and yes, actually reads it).
- Takes emergency late-night calls. Builds systems that minimize emergency late-night calls.
- Accepts that sometimes long hours are required. Takes time off and enjoys it.
- Doesn’t underestimate the power of body language: Comfortable with camera-on collaboration.
- Willing to work in-office on a weekly or monthly cadence, depending on location.
- All other obvious expectations: Agile ceremonies, high-quality output, mentoring, best practices, observability, scalability, security, etc.
- Understands that “Technical Experience” is largely a wish list.
Technical Experience:
- Languages: Typescript (and comfortable across the full stack).
- Full Stack Development: Beyond just Next.js server-side rendering – truly understands backend and frontend concerns.
- API Design: Familiarity with REST, schema/contract design, versioning, idempotency, and websockets.
- CRM Integrations: Experience integrating with platforms like Salesforce, Netsuite, HubSpot, etc.
- Databases: Schema design, ORM usage, and performance tuning.
Frontend:
- Experience building with and for CMS platforms.
- Comfortable managing complex state (form libraries, React Context, React Query, avoids Redux when possible).
- Efficient with styling and component reuse (Tailwind CSS, Shadcn, Material UI).
- Observability:
- Experience setting up logs, metrics, and analytics pipelines.
- Familiar with platforms such as Google Analytics, Datadog, MixPanel, Segment, AWS CloudWatch, Grafana.
- CI/CD Pipelines:
- Experience with modern tooling like Docker, GitHub Actions, Terraform, database migrations.
