Job DescriptionSalary:

The Senior Data Analyst and Engineer provides expert-level support for enterprise data architecture, development, and integration initiatives. This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, databases, and ETL solutions that support the National Park Services (NPS) mission-critical systems. The position requires strong technical development capabilities, data modeling expertise, and a commitment to producing well-documented, high-quality data systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data processing pipelines and integration workflows across enterprise systems.
  • Support data lifecycle activities including requirement capture, database schema development, data migration, and documentation.
  • Develop ETL solutions using tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), ArcGIS Data Interoperability, and other open-source tools.
  • Write optimized and maintainable code using SQL, Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
  • Translate business requirements into data models and transform raw data into structured formats suitable for analysis.
  • Maintain version-controlled scripts and technical artifacts supporting the data infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with data governance, database administration, and GIS teams to ensure alignment of data pipelines with standards and quality objectives.
  • Provide technical documentation for data pipelines, validation processes, and metadata.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis and engineering, including development of database schemas and performing data migrations.
  • Proven experience with relational database platforms such as SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with both alphanumeric and geospatial data structures preferred.


Required Skills:

  • Strong coding and scripting ability in SQL, Python, and PowerShell.
  • Experience with ETL tools and data pipeline frameworks (SSIS, ArcGIS Interoperability, open-source tools).
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, schema development, and transformation logic.
  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to data quality and validation.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.


Certification Requirement:
Relevant certifications in data engineering, SQL Server, or Python development preferred.

Clearance Requirement:
Must successfully complete a National Agency Check (NAC) or NACI background investigation.


Salary Range:
$105,000 $125,000 annually (Negotiable)
