Position Overview
Precision Flooring Products is seeking an experienced operations leader to oversee daily production and distribution activities while helping drive operational improvements across its Morristown facility. As the company transitions toward a more streamlined manufacturing and distribution model, this individual will play an important role in strengthening processes, developing operational structure, and improving overall efficiency.
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of practical operations leadership, continuous improvement experience, and strong technical and analytical capabilities. This person should be equally comfortable leading people on the production floor and using data to identify opportunities for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Production Leadership
- Oversee daily production, finishing, packaging, warehouse, and distribution activities.
- Manage workflow, production planning, labor utilization, and on-time order fulfillment.
- Evaluate operational challenges and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency and performance.
- Establish clear accountability, communication, and operating procedures across departments.
- Support the company's ongoing transition to a streamlined manufacturing and distribution operation.
Continuous Improvement & Process Development
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and streamline processes.
- Apply Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement principles.
- Lead operational projects involving workflow, inventory visibility, production planning, and process improvements.
- Develop performance measurements and standardized procedures that support operational consistency and future growth.
Data, Technology & Reporting
- Utilize Excel, Google Sheets, and available business systems to analyze operational performance.
- Develop reports and tools to support production planning, inventory management, and operational decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve data organization, reporting, and access to operational information.
- Work within existing systems while identifying practical opportunities for improvement.
People Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership, direction, and accountability across production and operational teams.
- Support the development of frontline supervisors and team leaders.
- Evaluate organizational structure and help build a stronger operational leadership team.
- Promote a culture focused on safety, quality, communication, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a trusted operational partner to the General Manager.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in manufacturing, distribution, industrial operations, or a combination of these environments.
- Strong understanding of production management, workflow, inventory, and order fulfillment.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong technical and analytical skills, particularly Excel, reporting, and operational data analysis.
- Ability to build practical processes and reporting tools using existing technology.
- Experience leading teams, developing supervisors, and managing operational change.
- Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Background in industrial engineering, operations management, or a related discipline preferred; comparable operational experience will be considered.
- Experience in light manufacturing, custom production, or fast-paced distribution environments would be beneficial.
