Help Desk Technician | Norton Shores, MI

Salary Range: $47,000 - $72,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support for IT hardware, software, and network issues across office and production environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to manufacturing-specific applications (e.g., MES, ERP modules), industrial PCs, and shop floor equipment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain workstations, peripherals, barcode scanners, and label printers on the factory floor.
  • Respond promptly to production-impacting IT issues, ensuring minimal downtime for critical manufacturing operations.
  • Document all support activities, resolutions, and create knowledge base articles for common manufacturing IT problems.
  • Assist with network connectivity issues for both administrative and operational technology (OT) networks.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical manufacturing systems.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues in a production environment.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and common business applications.
  • Experience supporting specialized manufacturing IT equipment, such as label printers, barcode scanners, or shop floor terminals.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
  • Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) tools and ticketing systems.
  • Understanding of the criticality of IT systems in a manufacturing setting and the impact of downtime.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience supporting manufacturing ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Infor).
  • Familiarity with industrial hardware such as barcode scanners, label printers, or shop floor terminals.
  • Basic understanding of Operational Technology (OT) concepts (e.g., SCADA, PLCs).
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software support.
