Kable Workforce Solutions is hiring a Field Service Controls Technician for our client. This job involves supervising the installation and startup of machines at customer sites, performing troubleshooting and maintenance, and supporting electrical and program diagnostics. You’ll travel frequently to customer locations to ensure successful machine setup, operation, and performance while providing top-tier technical support.What’s a Typical Day Like?
- Supervise installation and startup of machines at the customers’ plant and maintain all working components as determined by customers’ needs.
- Travel to customers’ location(s) to supervise installation of our machines at the customer’s plant and perform startup of new machine.
- Perform field trouble shooting on both warranty and repair orders.
- Review jobs in the shop as production is in progress for possible field service problems.
- Perform electrical fault/functions on customer’s machinery, including PLC diagnostics.
- Support customers and other technicians with electrical & program troubleshooting via phone and remote connections.
- Assist engineering dept with machine runoffs and pre-ship program checks.
- Work in various software systems.
- Training of other employees and/or customers on machines.
- Prepare service reports on jobs in the fields.
- Assist Field Service Supervisor when required.
- Other functions as directed.
What Are the Requirements of the Job?
- Two year College degree or Trade School Certificate in electrical engineering
- 2-3 years of technical experience in manufacturing automation, material handling, and/or machine control.
- Must have product component level knowledge and program trouble shooting experience.
- Position requires multiple projects be handled at one time.
- Communicate verbally and/or in writing with other employees, other departments, supervision and customer relating to work in progress, problems and/or completion.
- Must be able to present information to groups of employees, customers, vendors etc.
- College level mathematics.
- Be able to identify work process problems and possible solutions.
- Maintain local, regional and/or national memberships in appropriate professional organizations/associations.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
- Ability to move or lift up to 50+ lbs.
- Capability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to utilize hand/eye coordination.
- Ability to reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel.
- Subject to temperature variance based on season, and loud noise level.
- Occasional travel throughout North America to customer jobsite for startups, machine commissioning, and warranty work as dictated by project.
- Some International travel required Average travel estimated at 65-75%.
