JOB SUMMARY/ DESCRIPTION
The IT Intern position provides hands-on experience supporting information technology, data, and systems operations within a public-sector environment. This internship is designed for motivated college students or recent graduates who are interested in gaining practical exposure to IT systems, data management, automation, and technical support while contributing to meaningful organizational projects. The IT Intern will work closely with IT and data professionals, gaining valuable on-the-job training and insight into government operations and technology infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the collection, processing, and maintenance of data and system information to support organizational operations.
- Support IT and data-related projects, including basic systems administration, data reporting, and automation initiatives.
- Help collect, clean, validate, and organize structured and unstructured data from various sources.
- Perform basic data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and potential system or process improvements.
- Assist with maintaining documentation, data dictionaries, user guides and training materials.
- Provide support to end users by assisting with data transfers, troubleshooting minor system issues, and escalating concern as appropriate.
- Monitor system performance and assist with routine maintenance tasks under supervision.
- Conduct research on emerging IT tools, technologies, and best practices.
- Support data quality, governance, and security standards.
- Performs other related duties or related projects as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Basic knowledge of information technology concepts, data management, or analytics.
- Familiarity with databases, data querying, or reporting tools (e.g., SQL or similar).
- Ability to learn new systems, tools, and technologies quickly.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be currently enrolled in or have graduated withing the last twelve (12) months from an accredited college or university.
- Must have SQL Services Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Course of study in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a closely related field.
- Basic working knowledge of computer systems, databases, or data analysis concepts.
- Familiarity with tools or languages such as Python, R, Excel, or similar is preferred.
- Programming, data visualization, or automation experience is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, talking hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Occasional (up to 1/3 of the work time) lifting, carrying to lift up to 15 lbs., pushing and pulling.
- Some occasional walking or standing may be required.
