About the Role:

Health Care Support Professionals, specifically Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or chronic health conditions. This position involves providing compassionate, person-centered care and support to help clients achieve greater independence and participate fully in their communities. DSPs work closely with clients to assist with daily living activities, health monitoring, and social engagement, ensuring their safety and well-being. The role requires collaboration with healthcare providers, families, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized care plans. Ultimately, DSPs serve as advocates and trusted companions, fostering dignity, respect, and empowerment for those they support. 7 days on 7 days off. Over 80 days less a year, compared to a regular Monday - Friday schedule! Benefits avaialble!

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of state-required training or certification for Direct Support Professionals.
  • Ability to pass background checks and meet health screening requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety protocols related to client care.
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or chronic health conditions.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Additional certifications related to healthcare support or behavioral health.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation software.
  • Bilingual abilities to support diverse client populations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication reminders, and mobility support.
  • Implement individualized care plans and document client progress and any changes in health or behavior.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to promote social interaction and community involvement.
  • Monitor clients’ health status and report any concerns or emergencies to appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, therapists, and family members, to ensure comprehensive care.

Skills:

The required skills enable DSPs to provide safe and effective personal care, communicate clearly with clients and team members, and respond appropriately to health and behavioral changes. Compassion and patience are essential for building trust and rapport with clients, while organizational skills support accurate documentation and adherence to care plans. Preferred skills such as CPR certification and experience with electronic health records enhance the ability to manage emergencies and maintain thorough client records. Bilingual skills facilitate communication with clients from diverse backgrounds, improving service accessibility. Overall, these skills combine to ensure that DSPs deliver holistic, respectful, and high-quality support every day.
