Job description:
Heavy Duty technicians are responsible for performing preventative maintenance and general repairs on Yard Jockey Trucks as per company and DOT standards. Technicians complete all needed repairs keeping quality, safety and expediency at the forefront.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair Trucks, including preventive maintenance, state inspections, DOT inspections, repair to air brakes, electrical and body repairs, with safety as the top priority.
- Perform general or routine welding with or without prints.
- Use effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with team members, all Rob’s Automotive and Collision personnel and external vendors.
- Contribute to the goals of the shop, leadership team and the Company as a whole.
- Ensure proper documentation is completed including repair orders, FHWA, PM and time cards.
- Abide by all Company policies and safety rules and assist in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and take appropriate actions, recommend process changes and initiate improvements.
- Be a positive role model for all team members providing support and enthusiasm – creating a professional, positive work environment.
- Work additional hours in accordance with business needs and other demands of the position.
- Adheres to all Company’s procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

- High school diploma.

- Able to examine products, equipment, and work performed for defects, problems or errors.
- Ability to plan, organize and execute repairs to meet performance deadlines.
- Able to keep work area organized, clean and clear of hazards.
- Able to read and understand technical diagrams, estimates and manufacturer specifications.
- Be at least eighteen years of age.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Pass a motor vehicle report and possess an acceptable safe driving record.
- Pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

- Walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel and crouch for extended periods of time.

- Work in considered heavy physical work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision and the ability to adjust focus.
