Extension is seeking an Engineering Manager - Tooling for a DIRECT HIRE opportunity with one of our clients located in Waukesha County.

Key Objectives / Role Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, including design engineers, CAD technicians, and quotation engineers
  • Provide technical leadership for carbide cutting tool design, applications, and manufacturing processes
  • Balance people leadership with hands-on technical review of tooling designs, processes, and routings
  • Drive project execution by setting priorities, allocating resources, and tracking progress
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Sales, Quality, and Operations to support customers and solve complex technical challenges
  • Analyze operational data, late-job drivers, and rework metrics to improve performance and efficiency
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to machining, EDM, laser processes, and tooling measurement systems

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)
  • 5+ years of direct experience in cutting tool design and application (strong preference)
  • Prior leadership experience (formal or informal) required
  • Experience working in CNC machining or tool shop environments
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, machine tools, and toolholding
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (required)
  • Experience with SAP (required)
  • Strong background in quoting, cost analysis, and manufacturing routings
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

Nice to Have

  • Customer-facing application engineering or technical sales experience
  • Experience in carbide, aerospace, or OEM manufacturing environments

Salary Information

  • Base Salary: Up to $125,000
