Overview

The Asset Protection Specialist is responsible for supporting the safe, secure, and efficient operation of the yard mostly during business hours, with a primary focus on verifying customer invoices against materials leaving the property to ensure accurate product and quantity release. The position also monitors yard and gate activity, performs CCTV observation, documents safety and security incidents, and conducts periodic security rounds to help protect company assets and maintain a safe environment.


Responsibilities

Safety

  • Identify Safety Issues then address or contact Building Maintenance/Loss Prevention Manager
  • During a snow/ice event; maintain the area(s) around Guard Shack, Gates and Corporate Building and maintain a path to generator
  • Observe operation of propane station to ensure safe dispensing
  • Observe arriving/departing personnel for security and safety reasons
  • Observe departing Company trucks/vehicles for safety issues

Security

  • Address parking issues as needed
  • Verify customer invoices against products/materials leaving the yard.
  • Operate primarily from the guard shack/checkpoint area.
  • Monitor and document truck and customer traffic.
  • Conduct limited CCTV observation.
  • Check in/out vendor trucks/vehicles and give direction as needed

Emergencies

  • Handle onsite emergencies and provide traffic control when necessary
  • Handle emergency phone calls from Branches and notify the appropriate Departments/Management
  • Notify EMS/Police/Fire in case of emergencies
  • Take alarm calls from Mahoney and address as needed
  • Assist with incidents when needed

General

  • Mentor fellow Employees as needed for their continued improvement
  • Spot check inventory of items when needed
  • Check customer propane tanks for expiration and condition when you are not by yourself
  • Give directions to “Lost” customers and vendors
  • Complete assigned projects


Qualifications

  • NYS Certified Security License preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and problem-solving skills to analyze customer needs and to recommend the proper course of action
