The Cashier – Mozen is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service by greeting guests, accurately processing food and beverage orders, handling payments, and ensuring timely and correct delivery of orders. This position supports a seamless dining experience and upholds AAA Four Diamond service standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets guests promptly with professionalism and a welcoming attitude, ensuring a positive first impression and exceptional guest experience.
  • Accurately takes and calls out food and beverage orders using the point-of-sale (POS) system, ensuring precision and efficiency in every transaction.
  • Operates the cash register accurately, processes guest payments, discounts, comps, and room charges in accordance with company policies and established procedures.
  • Presents, delivers, and retrieves guest checks, ensuring all payments are processed correctly and change is returned promptly.
  • Prepares and serves meals, beverages, and side items from steamers and other kitchen equipment while maintaining quality, consistency, and proper presentation standards.
  • Ensures timely and accurate delivery of all guest orders, maintaining communication with kitchen and service staff to guarantee smooth operations.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation standards, to provide accurate information and recommendations to guests.
  • Restocks and replenishes inventory and supplies — including condiments, utensils, coffee, beverages, and service items — to maintain readiness and efficiency.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the cashier station, counters, service areas, dining rooms, and behind-the-counter workspaces at all times.
  • Sweeps, mops, clears walkways, removes trash, and sanitizes guest areas to ensure a clean, safe, and inviting environment for both guests and team members.
  • Ensures compliance with all food safety, health, and sanitation standards, including proper handling and storage of food, utensils, and equipment.
  • Lifts, moves, and transports stock, beverage crates, and supplies as needed to support daily operations.
  • Coordinates dining room seating, assists with plating and food line duties, and delivers meals to guests as directed to support seamless service flow.
  • Performs opening, side work, and closing duties per operational guidelines to maintain efficiency and readiness for the next shift.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned to support overall operational success.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of guest service and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm and organized in a high-volume environment.
  • Prior experience handling POS systems and cash transactions preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional coursework in hospitality, accounting, or customer service is a plus.
  • Food Handler Certification required or must be obtained upon hire.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience handling cash and processing transactions in a food and beverage or retail environment.
  • Experience operating POS systems, balancing cash drawers, and preparing end-of-shift reports.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced, upscale dining setting.
  • Prior experience in a casino, resort, or fine dining establishment is preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally lifts and carries cash drawers, receipt paper, menus, or small supplies weighing up to 25 pounds; may assist with light restocking duties.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequently uses hands and fingers to operate POS terminals, handle currency and credit card transactions, count change, and manage printed receipts with accuracy.
  • Mobility: Regularly moves between the cashier station, service areas, and host stand; requires standing, walking, bending, and light reaching throughout the shift.
  • Stationary Work: Frequently remains standing at a cashier station or host desk for extended periods while handling transactions and guest interactions.
  • Tool Operation: Regular use of POS systems, credit card machines, phones, and standard office or cashiering equipment; responsible for following proper cash handling procedures and maintaining equipment.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires close vision to process payments, verify guest checks, handle cash, and review transaction records accurately.
  • Working Conditions: Routinely works in a fine dining environment with exposure to moderate noise, indoor lighting, and frequent guest interaction. Regular exposure to a smoking environment while transitioning through casino or public areas.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
