Position Summary

Alamo Aircraft is seeking an experienced and hands-on Technical Lead to oversee the technical aspects of our Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations supporting government and defense customers.

This individual will serve as the go-to expert for part identification, technical troubleshooting, engineering support, and tooling quotation. The ideal candidate brings deep practical aerospace knowledge combined with the ability to navigate government logistics and technical data systems (e.g., IPB, TOs, ETIMS).

A background as a former military A&P mechanic with on-the-job engineering experience is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Support

• Serve as the internal technical expert supporting the MRO team across aircraft platforms and programs.

• Interpret engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, and government technical orders (TOs).

• Utilize Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPB) and technical publications to identify and verify parts.

• Retrieve, review, and manage technical drawings needed for parts fabrication or repair.

• Support production troubleshooting by providing hands-on engineering guidance.

• Work closely with quality and compliance teams to ensure all technical work meets regulatory and contract standards.

Tooling & Quoting

• Prepare accurate and defensible tooling quotes based on technical understanding of the equipment

• Analyze technical scope and requirements to develop tooling solutions for customers.

• Collaborate with supply chain and production teams to ensure tooling requirements are understood and achievable.

Government Systems & Documentation

• Work within various government systems (DLA, FedMall, ETIMS, JEDMICS, etc.) to locate technical data and parts.

• Ensure compliance with contract and military standards (DFARS, AS9100, etc.).

• Maintain accurate technical records and contribute to document control processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with sales, quoting, procurement, and production teams to ensure technical alignment across the business.

• Assist with training and mentoring junior staff in technical processes and systems navigation.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Background & Experience

• Former military A&P mechanic (USAF, USN, USMC, Army) strongly preferred.

• 10+ years’ experience in aerospace MRO, government contracting, or related fields.

• Proven on-the-job engineering or technical project leadership experience.

• Deep familiarity with:

  • Technical publications (IPB, TOs, OEM manuals)

  • Government systems (ETIMS, JEDMICS, DLA systems)

  • Drawing interpretation and basic GD&T understanding.

• Experience preparing tooling quotes and supporting technical sales activities.
